Margot Hiller
About
Margot Hiller is a professional editor, tutor, and reader who began her career in 2009 as an English and Creative Writing teacher. In the closeness of her small creative writing and independent study courses, she discovered the fundamental task of teaching: to give rise and support to a student’s inner voice. Committed to those learning to express themselves, she began freelancing as a tutor and editor. Her approach, cultivated first in the classroom, then organically over time, allowed for genuine connections with her clients. She saw the profound impact private tutoring had on the confidence of those she worked with and felt compelled to respond.
In 2014, Margot left her role as a classroom teacher to pursue her freelance work and, in 2015, became the primary editor for Lynn Slaughter and Jeff Pilchiek at Comprehensive College Check. Within very little time, she acquired a diverse group of clients, including college-bound students, doctoral candidates, authors, and lawyers.
Clients appreciate Margot for her honest and constructive feedback, as well as her empathetic teaching style. She approaches projects with enthusiasm and sensitivity and strives to listen as much as instruct. Eager and able, her aim is simple: to help individuals tell their authentic stories.
